First Life: Abdul Kalam was born on 15 October 1931 in Rameswaram. Now in the state of Tamil Nadu. Abdul Kalam was born in a Muslim family. His father Jainul Abdeen was a boat owner and Imam of a local Mosque. His mother Ashiamma was a housewife. Abdul Kalam has for brothers and one sister. He was the youngest in his family. Kalam’s family was poor. As a result, he sold newspapers. And he helped his family with money.
Education: He was a general quality student in the school. Abdul Kalam was an intelligent and hard-working student. He used to study a lot in his life. He got higher secondary education from Schwartz school. Then he was admitted to Madras University. From there he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Physics in 1954. In 1955, Abdul Kalam was admitted to the Madras Institute of technology. He completed Aerospace Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology.
As a Scientist: In 1960, Abdul Kalam has joined the Aeronautical Development Establishment of the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization as a scientist. In 1969, Abdul Kalam was transferred to the Indian Space Research Organization. He has launched India’s first artificial satellite launcher (SLV-III). Abdul Kalam was the project director. In July 1980, Rohini launched an artificial satellite into orbit. He attempted to build the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) and SLV-III between 1970 to 1990. He succeeded in this task.
President: Abdul Kalam was the 11th President of India. He won the 2002 presidential election. He got electoral votes of 922,884. He served as President from 25 July 2002 to 25 July 2007. During his term as President, he was known as the People’s President.
Death: On July 27, 2015, he suffered a heart attack while speaking on the living world at the Indian Institute of Management in Shillong, Meghalaya. He died at 7:45 pm on this day.
