Sultan Mehmed II: Sultan Mehmed II was the 7th Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. He was known as Mehmed the Conqueror. Sultan Mehmed II was the son of Sultan Murad II. Sultan Murad II was the former Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. Sultan Mehmed II was first time ruled by the Ottoman Empire from August 1444 to September 1446. Then later he was ruled from February 1451 to May 1481.

First Life: Sultan Mehmed II was born on 30 March 1432 in Edirne. At that time Edirne was the capital city of the Ottoman Empire. He was sent to Amasya for studies and to gain experience. At that time he was only 11 years old. Sultan Murad II appointed some teachers for his studies. Islamic teachings had an effect on his mind. Akshamsadin influenced him at a young age to conquer Constantinople.
First time of his rule: In August 1444, Sultan Murad II was making peace contract with the Karamanis of Anatolia. After the peace contract, Sultan Murad II left the throne. Mehmed II became the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire. At that time he was only 12 years old. The King of Hungary violated the contract with the help of Cardinal Julian Cesarini, the pope’s representative. Sultan Mehmed resisted the attack led by Hungary Janson Hunyadi. Sultan Mehmed requested his father to take power again. But Murad did not agree. Sultan Mehmed wrote in the letter sent to his father, “If you are a Sultan, come forward and lead the army. If I am a Sultan, I instruct you to lead my army”. Then Murad took charge and the battle of Werner wins in 1446.
Prophecy of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him): “One day Constantinople will be conquered by you (Muslims). How wonderful and blessed are the commander of its conquest! And the winning team is also the best”.
The Construction of the Fort: His grandfather Bayazid I built the Anadoluhisari fort in the Asian part before the Bosphorus. Sultan Mehmed built the Rumelihisari fort in the European part in 1452 AD. As a result, the Ottomans full control over the canal.
Construction of large cannon: In 1452 Urban applied to work under the Byzantine. But Emperor 11th Constantine was not able to supply the necessary materials to build its high cannon and salary. Urban then go to Sultan Mehmed II. Sultan Mehmed provides a large amount of money and materials to build high cannon. Urban built became a large cannon in Adrenopol within three months. Urban built other cannons for the Turkish army. The large cannon was taken from Adrenopol to Constantinople by 60 bulls.
Conquest of Constantinople: When Sultan Mehmed became the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire in second times. He was prepared to attack Constantinople. Sultan Mehmed increased his navy power. There are 320 warships in his navy. Finally, In 1453 Sultan Mehmed siege to Constantinople. Giant chains were placed at the Golden Horn entrance. As a result, the Turkish navy could not move forward. Sultan Mehmed pulled his ships over the ground and brought them to the golden horn. There was a long fight. Finally, on May 29, 1453, the city of Constantinople fell. After the conquest, Sultan Mehmed moved the capital from Edirne to Constantinople.
Death: In 1481, Sultan Mehmed fell ill in Istanbul. He has died on 3 May 1481 AD. He was the best hero of the Muslim World. He was instrumental in strengthening the Ottoman Empire.
